Google Meet’s Face Touchup comes to desktop

Google is introducing face filters to ‘lightly’ touch up complexion before online meetings on the desktop version of the Meet app. This feature was launched on mobile apps last year.

Choosing between two different filters, subtle and smoothing, light complexion correction, under eye lightening and eye whitening with the former. For the Smoothing filter, all three effects are enhanced for a better look. Users can find filters in Meet by setting ‘Apply visual effects’ and selecting ‘Appearance’.

Touchup filters are expected to roll out today only to Premium users with Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Teaching & Learning upgrades. This will also include Google One and Google Workspace individual customers.

Google has lagged behind in video conferencing, as its rivals, Microsoft and Zoom, released such filters for their users much earlier.
